Disabilities do not limit the level of professional skills
In Belgorod, the regional stage of the National Professional Skills Championship among People with Disabilities and People with Health Limitations “Abilympics” has been completed. Abilympics means "Olympics of Abilities."
The Belgorod Region joined the Abilympics movement in 2016. The first competition was quite modest, uniting only 20 children in five competences. This year, more than a hundred people took part in the professional skills competition in 19 competences. In general, Abilympics covers almost forty countries, and more than 50 professions on the list.
Currently, 309 people with disabilities and people with health limitations are studying in professional educational institutions of the region. Abilympics, in the opinion of the organisers, helps to change the traditional view of the capabilities of a person with a disability.
Every year, a professional skills competition opens new areas for competitions. In 2018, one of them was “3D Modelling”. The participants of the championship demonstrated their professional skills in the categories “Medical and Social Care”, “Preschool Education”, “Web Design”.
The awarding of the winners and prize-winners of the professional skills competition was held at the closing ceremony of the regional championship on the stage of the Youth Cultural Centre of the Belgorod State University. Prizes to the winners in the competences “Social Work”, “Repair and Maintenance of Road Transport”, “Economics and Accounting” were provided by the management of Prioskolie CJSC.
